High Court Turns Aside Kagan Recusal Request

The Supreme Court won’t hear arguments from a conservative watchdog group that wants Justice Elena Kagan disqualified from deciding the constitutionality of President Barack Obama’s national health care overhaul.

Freedom Watch asked the high court for time to demand Kagan’s recusal or disqualification during arguments on the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The law is aimed at extending health insurance coverage to more than 30 million previously uninsured people and would, by 2019, leave just 5 percent of the population uninsured, compared with about 17 percent today, according to the Congressional Budget Office.

Justices, who will be hearing more than five hours of arguments on the health care overhaul, rejected the request without comment.

Kagan, who was solicitor general under Obama during the political battle to get the law passed, did not participate in the decision.

According to CNN, the court’s brief order all but assures the newest justice will participate in the late March arguments, and eventually rule on the cases’ merits. Similar calls for recusal from other groups have been directed at Justice Clarence Thomas, whose wife is involved in repeal efforts.

Will TSA Yield to Rand Paul (R-KY) and Give Him Special Treatment? 1

Official portrait of United States Senator (R-KY).

SEN. RAND PAUL, TSA OPPONENT

While trying to take a flight, Sen. Ron Paul‘s son, Rand Paul, tripped the metal detector. He asked the TSA for a do-over and was denied. Paul was told he had to undergo the infamous pat-down of which he is a passionate objector. Local police took him away.  However, he is back at the airport under no one’s detention. The Pauls are prominent in the Republican Party. Ron Paul is currently running for President and some speculate that Rand will follow in his footsteps.  Will the TSA be forced by the power of big money to relent and admit they have different rules for the rich and powerful?  Different rules? Yes, have you forgotten this image and the accompanying article? Shameful!

English: Former Speaker of the House Newt Ging...

THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL "TEA ROSE"!

With a mixed bag political history and a personal history of a “trashy life.” it is curious why disgraced ex-speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich gets incensed when the media correctly call him a lobbyist. He could not truthfully say what his job was at Fannie Mae. Or, was it Freddie Mac…or both?  I mean, why would they pay $1.6 Million dollars for a “historian?”  That is the going rate for top lobbyists in Washington who became big and powerful in government and later traded on their contacts and influence.  This describes Newt Gingrich, the ultimate Washington INSIDER!

Perhaps Professor Gingrich missed the lecture on “What Is a Lobbyist?”  For generations we have turned to Websters for accepted definitions of what things are…or are not.

The Big Story, By Joe Conason

The True Importance Of Being Newt

Whether Newt Gingrich ever wins another primary after South Carolina or not, he has performed an important service to American voters in this election. Not in the self-important way that he imagines, of course. But Gingrich’s mocking assault on Mitt Romney, his career at Bain Capital and reluctance to disclose his tax returns has driven a national discussion of economic unfairness, tax avoidance, and abuse of financial power that might never have occurred without the Gingrich intervention.

The easiest way to understand Gingrich’s impact on the Republican contest — and on Romney’s unimpeded march toward the nomination, until now — is how little attention has been devoted to the former Massachusetts governor‘s financial affairs in the past. READ MORE
