Obama calls for new small-business tax breaks to stimulate economy

President Obama made a fresh call Tuesday for another round of economic stimulus, proposing to spend more than $25 billion to offer tax breaks to companies to hire workers or pay them higher salaries.

The measure is Obama’s first proposal aimed at addressing the still-weak economy since his reelection and an acknowledgment that though it is no longer a political threat, the nation’s unemployment rate of 7.9 percent remains a significant problem.

Republicans, reform begins in your hearts!

Having lost the election that so many of their party predicted as a sure thing, republicans are now mulling over reforms in their thinking on Latinos, blacks, gays, immigrants, etc.  It is not enough to change form and say, “Welcome into our tent!”  You have to mean it.  You have to change not only your policies.  You have to change your true feelings in your collective hearts.  I know it’s hard to do that.  The Civil War was in the 1800’s, yet some still believe/hope that “the South will rise again.”  It won’t, no matter how many secession petitions are sent to the Whitehouse.  White republicans have to believe in equality of all races and champion the dignity of man.  Together we can make America reclaim her destiny!   —GoodOleWoody

Who is the Tea Party Caucus in the House?

Posted by

(CNN) – Fiery Republicans known as the Tea Party Caucus are at the center of the debate over which version of a plan – if any – to cut spending and raise the debt limit should be adopted in Congress.

These conservatives, many of whom were swept into office during the 2010 midterm elections, have made it their mission to reign in spending and shrink the size of government, even if it means taking the country to the edge of default.
