Time’s Up, Top 1%….Time to Create Those Jobs You Promised!

These three men are the Republican leaders in Congress: Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA) and Rep. John Boehner (R-OH).  These powerful three men oppose the President of the United States, Leader of the Free World who has declared himself a “Warrior for the Middle-Class.” These three obstructionists are resisting the creation of jobs by the American Jobs Act. They call the burgeoning movement, Occupy Wall Street, which is honing our despair at the “state of the union.” Millions of us, the “99%” of the population have no jobs.  We have worked hard in the past but our efforts see diminishing returns without a steady paycheck. McConnell, Cantor and Boehner are using all their elected power to protect the top “1%” who have all the wealth and were given low tax rates in exchange for job creation.  This bargain was struck and now the wealthy in this country have reneged!  Even though they were given a windfall last Christmas in exchange for extended unemployment benefits, the continue to be renegers!  IT’S TIME FOR THE WEALTHY BOSSES WHO HAVE THE MONEY AND THE POWER TO OPEN THEIR COFFERS AND INVEST AT HOME. “AMERICA CAN BE AMERICA AGAIN.” THAT IS, IF WE BEGIN TO REPAIR OUR VARIOUS INFRASTRUCTURE, THE GIRDERS AND PYLONS ON WHICH OUR ECONOMY RESTS.  Government must repatriate the millions of dollars in corporate profits being held offshore in a bargain to create domestic jobs. [If Martin Luther King were here today, he'd lead a March on Washington to end all marches! Congress would be shutdown until it agreed to work for the people and not the new legislative class which shields the top 1% from having to pay their fair share in society.] Jobs. We need jobs!

The world has been inspired by OCCUPY WALL STREET and the 99 percenters are protesting the state of the global financial system and its inequity.  The world revolves around this system.  If McConnell, Cantor and Boehner do not reach out to our President in conciliation and agree to work for job creation, political and financial reform.  This MUST HAPPEN before the bubble bursts and we are thrown into the vortex:

“Number 9, Number 9, Number 9″ (“FAB 4″)

Herman Cain is a successful black businessman whose father taught him “the road to success is paved with hard work.’  However, Herman is wrong in thinking that blacks are jealous of his success and that we are “brainwashed.”  We want what all of the 99% want: Economic equity!  We are not lacking in our number of people who work hard.  But, life is not that simple: Hard work equals success, period? No!  Mr. Cain, you would not be where you are without opportunity, connections, etc….and the David and Charles Koch!  Yesterday I watched you on “Meet the Press.” (NBC) You are a good man, but, you have yet to discuss your “9-9-9 Plan” in terms that you clearly understand and can articulate.  Republicans are making jokes about you and saying, “Herman is making it up as he goes along.”

At this stage in your campaign, your “9-9-9 Plan” should be fully rolled out and under scrutiny by our finest economists. Instead you employ secrets and hidden truths.  You say your plan’s sales tax would only affect those who purchase new goods.  You wouldn’t know this, Mr. Success, but, even if you shop at the Dollar Store, poor people buy new goods as well as your friends at the top of society.  Regardless of one’s pocketbook, we all buy and consume NEW FOOD AND NEW MEDICINE, ETC. [Yes, the rich buy used clothing. They just call it vintage.]  Your “9-9-9 Plan” would be federal and would be in addition to levies by states and municipalities.  Who can afford to pay 17% on almost everything we buy?

Mr. Cain, you say that the American people like your “9-9-9 Plan.”  Tell us, from where do you get your stats?  Also, we would like to know how extensive is your background with The Koch Brothers.  How much cash have they funneled into your campaigns over the years?  How closely do you share their concepts of and goals for America?  Are you a part of their rollback of desegregation of the races?  How free of Koch tentacles would a Cain President be?  A little transparency, please.

In closing, Mr. Cain, we are not stupid.  We can follow from sentence to sentence.  We realize what you are doing when you do not answer specific questions with specific answers.  I only get to see you on TV. Perhaps there is a different Herman Cain on the stump(?)  Sir, enjoy your fifteen minutes.

Democrats Planning Major Capitol Hill Rally To Push Obama’s Jobs Bill

WASHINGTON — Hoping to put political pressure on Republicans and provide a few sympathetic visuals for reporters, congressional Democrats are planning to host a rally on Capitol Hill this week to push a major component of President Barack Obama‘s jobs plan.

A Democratic source says that on Wednesday, the party is likely to host firefighters, cops and other first responders along with teachers who face the threat of being laid off should lawmakers not send additional funds to states. Another source confirmed that preparations are underway for a rally.

The purpose of the affair is straightforward. It aims to put a human face on a legislative effort that would see $30 billion or so spent on education-related jobs and another $5 billion on first responders, all of which would be paid for by placing a tax on income above $1 million. By bringing those individuals who stand to benefit from the bill to Washington D.C., Democrats are practically doing the national press corps‘ homework for them.

The extent to which the White House will be involved in the affair remains unclear. But the administration does see the contrast drawn by both the bill and the rally as an advantageous one for the president. [Quote: HuffPost]

Obama: Lawmakers Don’t ‘Get’ Jobs Bill

President Obama, frustrated that GOP lawmakers are not supportive of his jobs bill, said on the start of his second bus tour since August that “maybe they couldn’t understand the whole thing at once.” So, to do Congress a favor, “we’re going to break it up into bite-sized pieces, so they can take a thoughtful approach,” he said in Asheville, N.C. “We’re going to give members of Congress another chance to step up to the plate and do the right thing.” Last week the bill pretty much died in the Senate when only 51 Democrats voted to bring it up for debate, not enough to overcome a Republican filibuster. Obama is embarking on a three-day bus trip through North Carolina and Virginia, both states he carried in 2008 but might not in 2012.

RU Black? There’s a Campaign to Keep You from Voting in 2012 1

As a black American, I am concerned about the Presidential Election in 2012.  I have a driver’s license which is a “picture ID” in my state which will required to vote. A large number of blacks and the elderly in the South have no picture ID.  Some are too poor to own a car and need a driver’s licensed.  Their Social Security card used to be sufficient ID in business affairs where they had to prove who they were.  Republican dominated legislatures all over the nation are orchestrating a campaign to reduce democratic access to the ballot box in 2012 to secure a republican victory…like the one in the last mid-term election.  It is said that the infamous Koch Brothers are behind this seemingly uncoordinated scheme.  Please read this excerpt from Rolling Stone.

The GOP War on Voting

In a campaign supported by the Koch brothers, Republicans are working to prevent millions of Democrats from voting next year

by: Ari Berman

As the nation gears up for the 2012 presidential election, Republican officials have launched an unprecedented, centrally coordinated campaign to suppress the elements of the Democratic vote that elected Barack Obama in 2008. Just as Dixiecrats once used poll taxes and literacy tests to bar black Southerners from voting, a new crop of GOP governors and state legislators has passed a series of seemingly disconnected measures that could prevent millions of students, minorities, immigrants, ex-convicts and the elderly from casting ballots. “What has happened this year is the most significant setback to voting rights in this country in a century,” says Judith Browne-Dianis, who monitors barriers to voting as co-director of the Advancement Project, a civil rights organization based in Washington, D.C.

Republicans have long tried to drive Democratic voters away from the polls. “I don’t want everybody to vote,” the influential conservative activist Paul Weyrich told a gathering of evangelical leaders in 1980. “As a matter of fact, our leverage in the elections quite candidly goes up as the voting populace goes down.” But since the 2010 election, thanks to a conservative advocacy group founded by Weyrich, the GOP’s effort to disrupt voting rights has been more widespread and effective than ever. In a systematic campaign orchestrated by the American Legislative Exchange Council – and funded in part by David and Charles Koch, the billionaire brothers who bankrolled the Tea Party – 38 states introduced legislation this year designed to impede voters at every step of the electoral process.

All told, a dozen states have approved new obstacles to voting. Kansas and Alabama now require would-be voters to provide proof of citizenship before registering. Florida and Texas made it harder for groups like the League of Women Voters to register new voters. Maine repealed Election Day voter registration, which had been on the books since 1973. Five states – Florida, Georgia, Ohio, Tennessee and West Virginia – cut short their early voting periods. Florida and Iowa barred all ex-felons from the polls, disenfranchising thousands of previously eligible voters. And six states controlled by Republican governors and legislatures – Alabama, Kansas, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin – will require voters to produce a government-issued ID before casting ballots. More than 10 percent of U.S. citizens lack such identification, and the numbers are even higher among constituencies that traditionally lean Democratic – including 18 percent of young voters and 25 percent of African-Americans.

Taken together, such measures could significantly dampen the Democratic turnout next year – perhaps enough to shift the outcome in favor of the GOP. “One of the most pervasive political movements going on outside Washington today is the disciplined, passionate, determined effort of Republican governors and legislators to keep most of you from voting next time,” Bill Clinton told a group of student activists in July. “Why is all of this going on? This is not rocket science. They are trying to make the 2012 electorate look more like the 2010 electorate than the 2008 electorate” – a reference to the dominance of the Tea Party last year, compared to the millions of students and minorities who turned out for Obama. “There has never been in my lifetime, since we got rid of the poll tax and all the Jim Crow burdens on voting, the determined effort to limit the franchise that we see today.” [To read the this excellent entire article click here.]

====O====

Blacks (and whites)  had to demonstrate and protest to help overcome the “Jim Crow” laws which preventing them from voting. It is conceivable that many young people are not aware of The Civil Rights Act-The Voting Right Act.  They ended an ugly chapter in American history that David and Charles Koch are trying through money to reverse ex post facto. We must learn the lessons of our past, my fellow Americans.  ‘To diminish the rights of one American diminishes us all.’  Watch this capsule history of our struggle and success:
