(Newser) – Maybe the message here is: Don’t mess with teachers. Chris Christie’s approval rating has dropped, according to a new Bloomberg poll, with more than half of New Jersey residents now saying they wouldn’t support his reelection. Respondents objected to a variety of Christie’s policies, with 65% opposing his cuts in education spending, 58% opposing his removal of a surcharge on the state’s highest earners, and 51% opposing the cancellation of a planned tunnel to New York.
Christie’s favorability rating is now at 43%, while teachers, whom he tussled with on benefits and pay, are at 76%. “Teachers I know got laid off because of him,” said one respondent. “He’s not in favor of the average working person.” That view seemed pervasive: 68% believed Christie stands with the business community, while just 22% said he sides with “ordinary New Jerseyans.” —Kevin Spak
As New Jersey and her governor decline, some still hope for national office for Chris Christie. I hope they will continue to remember this video which shows Christie’s arrogance and disdain for the middle-class voter:
MICHELE BACHMANN SAID TODAY THAT HER CAMPAIGN HAS BEEN GOING ON 48 DAYS. FOR ALL THAT TIME SHE NEVER PROPERLY ANSWERED “YES” OR “NO” QUESTIONS. HER EYES GLAZE OVER AND SHE GOING INTO A STUDIED MONOTONE WHERE SHE TRIES TO MAKE ALL ISSUES AN OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE THE FOCUS OFF HER, BACHMANN, AND PUT ON PRESIDENT OBAMA.
Michele Bachmann is the founder and leader(?) of the Tea Party Caucus. In her campaign to be President she MUST answer for the misguided agenda of the Tea Party that is so egregious in stopping normal government from functioning. Standard and Poor’s singled this roadblock in governance in their announcement of lowering our bond rating. Michele is a “tax lawyer with a PhD. She knows what she is doing and must be held accountable by the Fourth Estate. We need a President who is honest and speaks clearly to the American people without deception! The media has not done its job when it comes to Bachmann. They must forget she is a woman and grill her just like male candidates. This is the equality Bachmann, herself, would call for.
SUPPOSE TINA BROWN OF NEWS WEEK HAD USED THIS PICTURE ON HER COVER? WOULD THIS BE SEXIST……..OR PORN? 🙂
FOR QUITE SOME TIME,THE RICH AND THE MOST PROFITABLE CORPORATIONS HAVE ENJOYED LOW TAX RATES. CONGRESS AND THE PRESIDENT GAVE THEM THESE “BUSH TAX CUTS” WITH THE OBLIGATION FOR THEM TO CREATE JOBS. WELL, THEY’RE ENJOYED THEIR EXTRA MONEY, BUT, WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR ALL THOSE JOBS THEY PROMISED!
WHEN PRESIDENT OBAMA SENDS HIS JOBS PLAN TO CONGRESS, IT WILL BE THE LAST TIME THE AMERICAN PEOPLE GIVE CONGRESS A CHANCE TO PASS A JOBS BILL AND MAKE REVENUE “RAISES”. NO MORE TEA PARTY GRIDLOCK! NO ONE WANTS THAT HAIR TRIGGER TO BE PULLED!
Piers Morgan, I’m on your side. Guests on talk shows do not set the agenda or control the questions. They are there to answer questions! [GoodOleWoody]
O’Donnell walks out of CNN interview
|By: CNN’s Ashley Killough|
“I’m not talking about policies. I’m not running for office,” O’Donnell said. “Ask Michele Bachmann what she thinks.”
When Morgan asked her why she was being “weird” about answering questions on her own statements, as well as issues she addresses in her new book, “Troublemaker,” O’Donnell fired back, saying she only wanted to talk about tea party principles outlined in her book.
“That’s why I agreed to come on your show. That’s what I want to talk about,” O’Donnell said. “I’m not being weird. You’re being a little rude.”
O’Donnell made national headlines in 2010 when she denied in a TV ad that she was a witch, responding to comments she made a decade earlier on a TV show saying she had “dabbled in witchcraft.”
During her Senate campaign, O’Donnell ran as a tea party darling and social conservative. She said she hopes her new book will be an inspirational tool to the grassroots conservative movement.
But when asked about issues from her book and her campaign Wednesday, O’Donnell walked away from the interview, upset that Morgan wasn’t not talking about the things she wished to address.
“Don’t you think as a host, if I say this is what I want to talk about, that’s what we should address?” she asked Morgan.
When Morgan said “no,” O’Donnell began to take off her microphone and said she had turned down another interview for this appearance.
“I was supposed to be speaking at the Republican Women’s Club at 6, and I chose to be a little late for that,” she said. “Not to endure a rude talk show host, but to talk to you about my book and the issues I address in my book.” [Source: CNN]
The Tea Party was so stubborn in its allegiance to ideology that it brought The United States of America to the brink of default [according to Standard & Poor’s] and was the major cause of a download by one credit rating agency of “the full faith and credit of The United States.” Read this excerpt from The Economist:
This is crucial. Sovereigns aren’t like companies. They can’t go bankrupt, and creditors can’t seize their assets. Their creditworthiness depends as much on their willingness as their ability to pay. As Felix Salmon presciently noted before the announcement was made, it’s not our ability to pay that’s in doubt:
“America’s ability to pay is neither here nor there: the problem is its willingness to pay. And there’s a serious constituency of powerful people in Congress who are perfectly willing and even eager to drive the US into default. The Tea Party is fully cognizant that it has been given a bazooka, and it’s just itching to pull the trigger. There’s no good reason to believe that won’t happen at some point.”
Tea Party, read the Deal that The Congress and The President finally agreed to. It includes a trigger that will force cuts and revenue raises, etc., that is if you pull your sh*t again! [I think the “S” word is appropriate here.] DON’T FORCE US TO GO THROUGH UGLY GOVERNANCE EVER AGAIN. Many of you were in state government or are students of civics. You know that to get something done in a legislative body, you have to use the currency of compromise…and deals! How long is your term of service? Do you really want to be a one term legislator?
