Candidate Rick Perry says that “Social Security is a ponzi scheme…” and “a fraud. I thought I should check the dictionary:

Definition of PONZI SCHEME

: an investment swindle in which some early investors are paid off with money put up by later ones in order to encourage more and bigger risks

Definition of FRAUD

a : deceit, trickery; specifically : intentional perversion of truth in order to induce another to part with something of value or to surrender a legal right b : an act of deceiving or misrepresenting : trick
a : a person who is not what he or she pretends to be : impostor; also : one who defrauds : cheat b : one that is not what it seems or is represented to be

Rick, is this what you think the federal government has been doing all these years?  As one who benefits from Social Security, like my parents and millions of other seniors, I, say “Your comment is trivial.  The American people want to hear you say how you will reform Social Security for future seniors.  Have you got a plan?  We are tired of slogans and distortions. Social Security is one of the greatest achievements of Democrats.  You pay into the system so that you will benefits when you retire. Not enough workers are paying into the system to keep the system running.  I can see the comparison with a ponzi scheme, but, the goal of Social Security is not a huge payoff at the end. Just a modest income that ensures some measure of quality of life survival.   Social Security will run out of money eventually without reform.. Presently, the program needs more revenue.  That means, Rick Perry, we need to hear your jobs plan, if elected. Rick, do you, like the Tea Party, oppose revenue raises (taxes)? You, Republicans, want to destroy our success with privatizing Social Security to increase Republican wealth.  You want to give us insignificant coupons from the Treasury to go into the indifferent insurance industry to buy healthcare. That system does not work for us. Witness!

Governor Perry, somehow you qualified to be the head of a state government, but, for Republicans to select you as its standard bearer, you will have to present original ideas that show you are a deep thinker.  Good Ole Boy charm won’t win a Presidential election.
