OBAMA CAMPAIGN: “Today’s Republican Talking Points”

Dear GoodOleWoody:

The Republican National Committee just unrolled their new strategy for beating President Obama this fall. They’re calling it “Obama vs. Obama,” and the idea is to say President Obama hasn’t made good on his campaign promises.

But there’s a hitch in their talking points: They’re (prepare to be shocked!) not true.

For every day they try to weave a false tale about the President, we’ll fight back with the facts about his record.

Check out our first piece: a video showing President Obama’s victory speech in Iowa from four years ago today, along with a rundown of the promises he’s kept. Take a look — and then make sure you share it with your friends.

The bottom line here is simple: This is a President who does what he says he’s going to do.

Other presidents and lawmakers tried for 70 years to pass health reform — but this president took on the insurance industry and got it done. When President Obama took office, nearly 150,000 troops were deployed in Iraq; in December, the last American troops there left. The middle class was under assault for decades, and this administration worked to make the tax code more fair and give all working families the tax cuts they deserve. And since taking office, President Obama has taken the most significant federal action ever to reduce greenhouse gases and our dependence on foreign oil — almost doubling our fuel-efficiency standards for cars and light trucks.

These aren’t talking points. These are facts.

It’s 2012. More and more people are going to start paying attention to this race, and fast. But the Republicans have apparently decided to make this easy for us — because when the other side’s strategy is to distort the record, all you need to push back with is reality.

Watch the video, get the facts, then pass it on:

Thanks, and happy caucus day,

Obama won’t rule out recess appointment at consumer bureau
By Peter Schroeder and Amie Parnes

President Obama is not ruling out a recess appointment of Richard Cordray to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), White House officials said Tuesday.

Officials said the president is leaving all options on the table when it comes to recess appointments, and that includes Cordray’s bid to head the CFPB.

While a senior White House official said Obama would not be making any recess appointments Tuesday, the official would not say whether the president would make them in the coming days.

On Iowa Caucus Day, Losing Newt Gingrich Calls Mitt Romney “a Liar” on Morning TV

For Newt "Truth" Is Defined by Convenience

I just watched a news clip from CBS in which Newt Gingrich thought for a second and then confirmed Mitt Romney “is a liar.”  What gall! What two-standard morality goes on in Newt’s super brain?  Is that brain so large that it can contain two versions of the truth which do not compete with each other?  Every American has seen the video or read news reports on Newt Gingrich saying that he was paid $1,6 to $1.6 Million Dollars by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac for his services “as a historian!”  There was public outcry and widespread disbelief which caused Newt to walk-back his ridiculous assertion and present an alternate ‘truth'(?)  Yes, Newt Gingrich is a loser who knows all about lying! Desperate men do desperate things, I guess.

Joe Scarborough Protects Republican, Steve King from Mika Brzezinski and Then He Attacts DNC Chairman, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz! 1

I am no longer shocked when Scarborough ‘forgets to take his medicine’ and lapses into partiality on “MorningJoe” which I watch daily. Usually, this talk show is “fair and balanced.”  However, this is the second time lately that Joe (@joeNBC) embarrassed his co-host, Mika Brzezinski (@MorningMika) stopping her from doing her job as an experienced REPORTER who can ask the tough questions of guest, Republican, Steve King of Iowa. Does every Republican guest on “MorningJoe” need Scarborough’s protection from honest questions about pressing and real issues of the day? As soon as the Steve King segment was over, Joe pressed Debbie Wasserman-Schultz in the same fashion he had just stopped his co-host, Mika, from using. Why was Debbie treated differently? Because she is Chairman of the Democratic National Committee and Joe is a “small government, conservative Republican”?  As I said, usually, Joe tries to be “fair and balanced,” to use his words.  It’s disappointing when he slips off the rail. 😦  To add insult to injury, Joe did not end Debbie’s segment before making a big deal of Tom Brokaw‘s arrival on the set.  Was this merely an insulting distraction?  Scarborough did go back to Debbie and give a half-hearted end to her segment.  Joe, WASSUP?  GOT IOWA FEVER?
