Whitney Houston’s funeral Saturday will be broadcast

updated 1:12 PM EST, Thu February 16, 2012

“For complete coverage of Whitney Houston‘s death, tune in to CNN and HLN. On Saturday, CNN’s Piers Morgan, Soledad O’Brien and Don Lemon remember the music legend at 11 a.m. ET, and a special CNN Presents at 8 p.m. ET takes a look at her life and death.

(CNN) — Saturday’s funeral for legendary pop singer Whitney Houston is expected to be made available for television and web streaming from the New Jersey church where she grew up, Houston’s publicist said Wednesday.

The services, to be held at New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, will be in a much smaller, more intimate setting than the concert halls and arenas Houston packed during her heyday.

In every sense, she will be going home.” [CNN]

Breaking from Newsmax.comPat Buchanan Out for Good at MSNBC

NEW YORK — MSNBC dropped conservative commentator Pat Buchanan on Thursday, four months after suspending him following the publication of his latest book.

The book “Suicide of a Superpower” contained chapters titled “The End of White America” and “The Death of Christian America.” Critics called the book racist, anti-Semitic and homophobic, charges Buchanan denied.

NJ Legislature Passes Same-Sex Marriage….Gov. Christie Plans a Veto! :(

Showing that it is a part of the evolving mainstream of America, the New Jersey Legislature passed a same-sex marriage law yesterday. Catholic Governor Chris Christie went on TV to say that as he promised, he will veto the bill.  Governor, you are letting your personal beliefs and those of your church when you deny this civil right that more and more states are passing to stop discriminating against a part of the population based upon what the Pope in Rome teaches and your personal feelings. It is your choice to veto, just like it is your choice to not take 1 or 2 doughnuts BUT abscond with the whole platter before your staff arrives for the meeting. 🙂

DAILY BEAST

U.N. to Hold Symbolic Syria Vote

It looks like Jay Carney was right to call Bashar al-Assad‘s promised referendum “laughable.” A day after the Syrian president promised reform, his troops launched an attack on the cities of Deraa, Hama, injuring an estimated 50 people. Also on Thursday, Syrian forces reportedly arrested blogger Razan Ghazzawi, who is considered one of the icons of the uprising. Meanwhile, France says it is negotiating a new U.N. resolution with Russia that would create humanitarian corridors to bring aid to civilians. The U.N. General Assembly will vote Thursday on the symbolic resolution condeming Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s brutal crackdown.
