Koch Brothers Respond to Obama Campaign Singling Them Out

February 26, 2012

The Obama campaign sent out a fundraising email singling out the Koch Brothers as America’s boogeymen and blaming them for high gas prices. (Just imagine what the press would do if a Republican president did such a thing.) Koch Industries wasted no time in responding.

Because every American has the right to take part in the public discourse on matters that affect the future of our country, I feel compelled to respond directly about a fundraising letter you sent out on February 24 denouncing Koch. It is both surprising and disappointing that the President would allow his re-election team to send such an irresponsible and misleading letter to his supporters.

For example, it is false that our “business model is to make millions by jacking up prices at the pump.” Our business vision begins and ends with value creation — real, long-term value for customers and for society. We own no gasoline stations and the part of our business you allude to, oil and gas refining, actually lowers the price of gasoline by increasing supply. Either you simply misunderstand the way commodities markets work or you are misleading your supporters and the rest of the American people.

As to that last sentence, I’d say it’s a little bit of both.

Read the whole thing.

Rick Santorum ‘Speaks’ to the American Woman. Choose Wisely!

Hey, Rick Santorum, Have You Heard of Diplomacy? I Guess Not. :(

Rick Santorum and others are coming down on the President got apologizing for our burning Muslim holy books.  We have a mission in Afghanistan (Even though Americans are tired of this war!)  We have sent advisers and diplomats to build a nation where one has never existed before.  By apologizing to Afghanistan we are showing them the respect a fellow nation gives to another’s culture and traditions.  It’s called diplomacy!

Definition of DIPLOMACY

: the art and practice of conducting negotiations between nations
: skill in handling affairs without arousing hostility : tact
Perhaps the people in Afghanistan are giving up bringing their society into the 21st century.  Perhaps we should bring the troops home for THE FOURTH OF JULY!

“Santorum: Separation of Church, State Not Absolute”

“Republican presidential primary hopeful Rick Santorum says he doesn’t believe in the separation of church and state, noting that a speech on the topic by former President John F. Kennedy makes him want to “throw up.”

“I don’t believe that the separation of church and state is absolute,” Santorum said in an interview today on ABC’s “This Week” program. “The First Amendment means the free exercise of religion and that means bringing people and their faith into the public square.” Santorum, 53, made the comments in an interview from Michigan, where he is campaigning ahead of the Republican primary this week. Polls show a close race there against Mitt Romney, who spent his boyhood in the state and where his father, George, was governor and an automobile company chief executive officer.

Santorum said Kennedy’s 1960 speech in Houston about the separation of church and state was an “absolutist doctrine” that he disagrees with.

“To say that people of faith have no role in the public square? What makes me throw up is someone who is now trying to tell people that you will do what the government says,” Santorum said. “That now we’re going to turn around and impose our values from the government on people of faith.”

Santorum said “there are people I disagree with. Come into our town hall meetings and let’s have a discussion. Air your ideas and why you believe what you believe.”

“That’s what America is all about — bringing in that diversity,” the former Pennsylvania senator said. “What we saw in Kennedy’s speech was just the opposite — and that’s what’s so upsetting about it.”

Are Your Ministers, and Priests Preaching about Jesus’ Second Coming?

I am no Biblical scholar, but, I sense that the End of Days foretold in the New Testament is upon us .  We are told that in the days near Jesus’ Second Coming, “there will be war and rumors of war.” “Their will be signs in the heavens.” Look at your news sources and see what is going on in the world: Fighting, unusual phenomena in the weather and other unseasonal manifestations.  I awoke this morning to learn that in Syria, President Bashar al-Assad is using activists as human shields, tying them to his tanks as he wages war on his people.  Everyday there are reports of the number of innocents killed by the armed forces of Syria.  Correspondents and journalists are prevented from entering Syria to prevent them from reporting on the truth of genocide there.

Why has the Arab League not acted?  Have they no teeth?  One man running from harm, under attack in Syria, said, “Where is America?” It is time for Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt and other countries in the world band together as NATO did to save the people of Libya.  Nations in the area have bought weapons of war from us and others. It is time to use those weapons to save the vulnerable people of Syria. Oil rich countries cannot just sit on their profits while the world goes to hell!  The United States is trying to get its house in order.  While some regard the US as the “Policemen of the World,” we are not.  We don’t have the resources to right all the wrong in the world. Witness the vote in the Security Council the other day when Russia and China vetoed action by the United Nations to help the people of Syria.  Any resolution by the General Assembly cannot help those suffering in Syria under artillery fire from their government. The Arab Spring must not die!  But, the Middle East cannot curse the West and then look to us to save them. (IMHO).  But, friends are concerned about the welfare of each other.  As we see the fighting and dying in Syria, we ask ourselves, “Who are our friends?”  Must we borrow money to fight a war in Syria? Perhaps the powers-that-be in the Middle East would pay the United States to police their sector of the world(?)  Whatever they do, countries of the Middle East must act to restore peace to their region. Genocide must not win!  Is fighting for liberty and democracy for all the people of the world God’s mission for the United States of America and her allies?  Must our youth shed their precious blood in the darkest theaters of war to assure global peace and freedom? Is this our cross to bear?  Is this our role in end of days? Heavenly Father, we pray that You will send Jesus soon to end our travail and take us to Glory!

Let the Fires of Liberty Burst Forth!
