“The American Auto Industry is Back”Yesterday, President Obama spoke at the United Auto Workers Annual Conference to discuss the success of the American auto industry.
After nearly collapsing three years ago, our nation’s big three automakers are turning profits and opening new factories. The industry has added more than 200,000 jobs. And those workers aren’t just building cars again — they are building better, more fuel efficient automobiles that help Americans save money at the pump every time they fill up:

Last Night Rick Santorum Pledged to Savage Natl. Parks to Create Jobs;His Audience Applauded(?)
In his concession speech last night, Rick Santorum was roiling up the crowd by citing what Obama (Federal) programs and regulations when he stopped listening to himself speak. I wonder if he meant to say he would choose mining jobs over our historic system of National Parks...IF IT MEANT CREATING JOBS. We know that Santorum lies and uses extreme language. Even the Soviets and Hitler cared about their nation’s natural resources.
Remember those enchanted school days when we were introduced to this poem?
TREES
I THINK that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the sweet earth’s flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day, 5
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain. 10
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

TODAY IS LEAP DAY!

“February 29, known as a leap day in the Gregorian calendar, is a date that occurs in most years that are evenly divisible by 4, such as 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016. Years that are evenly divisible by 100 do not contain a leap day, with the exception of years that are evenly divisible by 400, which do contain a leap day; thus 1900 did not contain a leap day while 2000 did. Years containing a leap day are called leap years. February 29 is the 60th day of the Gregorian calendar in such a year, with 306 days remaining until the end of that year.” [Wikipedia]
“In the British Isles, it is a tradition that women may propose marriage only on leap years. While it has been claimed that the tradition was initiated by Saint Patrick or Brigid of Kildare in 5th century Ireland, this is dubious, as the tradition has not been attested before the 19th century.[8] Supposedly, a 1288 law by Queen Margaret of Scotland (then age five and living in Norway), required that fines be levied if a marriage proposal was refused by the man; compensation ranged from a kiss to £1 to a silk gown, in order to soften the blow.[9] In some places the tradition was tightened to restricting female proposals to the modern leap year day, February 29, or to the medieval (bissextile) leap year day, February 24″.[Wikipedia]
