Rod Blagojevich — now also known as federal prisoner number 40892-424 — starts serving his 14-year sentence for corruption on Thursday. As Blagojevich heads off to the Big House, here’s POLITICO’s look back at 10 of his “f—-in’ golden” quotes:
1.“I’m blacker than Barack Obama. I shined shoes. I grew up in a five-room apartment. My father had a little laundromat in a black community not far from where we lived. I saw it all growing up.” – in an interview with Esquire magazine for its February 2010 issue. (Blagojevich apologized on Jan. 10, 2010, calling the comment “stupid, stupid, stupid. It was a metaphor. I was speaking metaphorically. Obviously I’m not blacker than President Obama.”)

New York Sen. Chuck Schumer believes he has found a political weapon in the unlikeliest of places: the Violence Against Women Act.
Republicans have several objections to the legislation, but instead of making changes, Schumer wants to fast track the bill to the floor, let the GOP block it, then allow Democrats to accuse Republicans of waging a “war against women.”
Jon, you da man!
