A not entirely new development in the sequester blame game reemerged this weekend in the form of Bob Woodward putting a damper on the Democrats’ Speaker Boehner sequestration powerpoint, trump card. This not wholly unexpected wrinkle shifts the sequester’s inception back on the White House.

Cuban President Raul Castro said Sunday that he would step down from power in 2018, when his second term as president is set to end.
“I would like to make clear … this will be my last term,” he said during a televised speech.
The announcement came shortly after the country’s National Assembly re-elected Castro to a second five-year term and tapped Miguel Diaz Canel to be first vice president.
Don’t feel too bad for tonight’s losers while you’re watching the Oscars. If we’re measuring by the amount of swag they head home with, pretty much everyone’s a winner. Every nominee heads home with a few consolation prizes.

A man named Pete Siegal paid $92,613.
Admittedly, it wasn’t just any old sock.
It was the sock worn by Curt Schilling during Game 2 of the 2004 World Series. He pitched for the Boston Red Sox against the St. Louis Cardinals on an injured ankle.
“It’s a one-of-a-kind item,” said Chris Ivy, director of Sports Auctions for Heritage Auctions.
