A TRIBUTE

TO

TRAYVON BENJAMIN MARTIN

Lord, send us someone to lead us in a March on Washington . . . 1

Martin Luther King – I Have A Dream

Lord, send us someone to lead us in a march on Washington to take our country back from Washington power brokers who have robbed the people of  “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”  Bless us with a happy and prosperous future, again. Daily, Lord, you see Republicans dismantling the freedoms and rights our ancestors fought and died for. The GOP plots to take over government from coast to coast and take food out of the mouths of the poor, take jobs from the downtrodden, take the right to vote from the black man, take away the right of women to make their own decisions about their bodies and reproductive life, to invalidate the belief that all men and women are equal, etc.  You gave us President Barack Obama who is fighting to protect us and make changes while working on the inside. Lord, we need a charismatic leader, black or white, who can inspire young and old to throw off their belief that “47 per cent”  of Americans don’t matter and begin to believe that if all of us little people pull together as one, we can rock Washington, DC and make the Congress work for the people again and once again adopt negotiation as the touchstone for solving problems creating good and just law. Lord, this war on women and other minorities must stop!  Gays and lesbians are Your children, too. Lord, You saw all the evil and ugliness of the last election.  We need Your divine help, Jesus, to make America, America again.  Your grateful and faithful believers ask for these blessings in Your name.  Amen.  [G.O.W.]

“Custody Denied to Nazi-Naming Dad”

NAZI_2013-07-12_0822

A judge has denied custody to a father who came to court in a Nazi uniform to get back his youngest child.

A hearing was held last month at Hunterdon County Family Court in Flemington, N.J., to determine whether Heath Campbell, 40, who gave all four of his children Nazi-inspired names, could visit with his 2-year-old son Heinrich Hons.

The New Jersey Division of Youth and Family Services (NJ DYFS) said they took the boy because of previous violence in the home. An anonymous abuse claim was also made to local police.

The couple said they never abused their children and argued they were being targeted for the names they chose for their kids. Officials have denied that to be the case.

“At Ramadan meals, Egypt weighs split in society”

CBS NEWS

MORSI_2013-07-12_0639

CAIRO – As the sun set on the first day of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, families across Cairo gathered for the fast-breaking iftar meal in a country that in the last two weeks has seen protests by millions, a coup against an elected president and the deaths of dozens of people in clashes with the military.

Ramadan is traditionally a time of personal reflection and feeling a sense of brotherhood with fellow Muslims, but in the aftermath of the military overthrow of President Mohammed Morsi, the divisions among Egyptians extend even down to this traditional meal.

On one side of the city, Tahrir Square remains the symbolic center of the revolution that overthrew Hosni Mubarak and later opposed Morsi. Across town in an eastern district, Morsi’s supporters have coalesced around a major intersection in front of the mosque of Rabaah al-Adawiya.

Breaking their fast outdoors, the people in the two camps expressed bafflement and disdain for the other side.

Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood vows peaceful defiance

“I don’t know if the people at Rabaah al-Adawiya are out of their minds or if they are brainwashed,” said Shenouda William, a 35-year-old lawyer, who sat with about 100 people in the echoing emptiness of Tahrir Square to break their fast. Others described the Morsi supporters in the Muslim Brotherhood as ignorant peasants or possibly Palestinian and Syrian refugees looking for food and a place to sleep.
