PRESIDENT OBAMA ENCOURAGES DISCHARGED SOLDIERS TO REENLIST
Imagine: 14,000 gay men and women wanted to serve in the military, they made the courageous decision to lie about their sexual orientation to be able to serve the Nation. These particular gays and lesbians were found out or outed and were subsequently discharged from service. In a few months we all hope to have the Repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” fully implemented. Then, President Obama encourages them to reenlist. I hope that there lives and psyches were not so destroyed that they cannot return to their noble service. No doubt there is anger, embarressment and thoughts of failure. But, those feelings are transitory.
That special feeling one gets when wearing the uniform is a lure too hard to resist. [I was in Army ROTC.] We will see the services grow by 14,000 men and women!
Well, most of the heros of the DADT movement are unsung. We all know Dan Choi who is in the photo below protesting “DADT.” We will see who steps forward to lead the 14,000 back to the service. Some may need support including financial. Hopefully, fairminded Americans will step up. GOD BLESS THE USA!
Title: I’m Posting every day in 2011!
I’ve decided I want to blog more. Rather than just thinking about doing it, I’m starting right now. I will be posting on this blog once a day / once a week for all of 2011.
I know it won’t be easy, but it might be fun, inspiring, awesome and wonderful. Therefore I’m promising to make use of The DailyPost, and the community of other bloggers with similiar goals, to help me along the way, including asking for help when I need it and encouraging others when I can.
If you already read my blog, I hope you’ll encourage me with comments and likes, and good will along the way.
THE 112th CONGRESS THREATENS TO BE CONTENTIOUS
PLEASE PRAY TODAY THAT REPUBLICANS AND DEMOCRATS AND INDEPENDENTS WILL FIND WAYS TO COMPROMISE AND REACH COMMON GROUND IN 2011
I am sad this did not make the 6 o’clock news.
Growing up in the South I knew the tradition of blackeyed peas or hoppin’ john and collard greens eaten at 12:01am on New Years Day. This was for good luck in the new year: peas for coins and collards for greenbacks. 🙂 The history of the blacked peas is quite interesting. Collards are known all over the world. These foods are staples in the southern kitchen and one can find recipes online.
As a child I used to go to bed long before midnight. I hated being wakened to eat peas and greens in the middle of the night. Now I look back and chuckle and remember my dear departed Mama. I hope your family has fond traditions, too. WATCH: TV MINISODE CHRISTMAS: DESIGNING WOMEN – NEW YEAR’S DAZE

THE CONSTITUTION PROVIDES THAT EACH HOUSE OF CONGRESS CAN SET ITS RULES ON THE FIRST DAY IT MEETS. THE 112TH CONGRESS MEETS JANUARY 5, 2011. WE ONLY NEED 51 VOTES IN THE SENATE TO CHANGE THE RULES AND ABOLISH “SECRET HOLDS” ON BILLS AND TO CHANGE/AMEND OR ABOLISH THE EXCESSIVE USE OF THE “FILIBUSTER.”
Senator Udall (D-NM) has a plan to accomplish this. He needs our help. We need to convince 51 senators to vote to change the rules on the first day of Congress. While enjoy the holidays we need to take 15 minutes to contact our two US Senators and express our opinion on these two rule changes. Did you know that the House sent over 400 bills to the Senate that went nowhere? That would not happen if we fix our broken, dysfunctional US Senate! This is a serious matter that you must not ignore. The easiest way to contact your Senator is through email. You can also fax them and send snail mail. However, you do it, please don’t forget. We don’t want republicans to obstruct the balance of the Obama Administration.
The House is dutiful about doing the people’s business, but, the work ethic of the Senate is deplorable. They need us to push them! Also, press Majority Leader, Senator Harry Reid to back us.
