I am watching the repeat of “Meet the Press.” Marco Rubio and Rob Portman criticize the President for not talking about his vision for the future. By what right do Republicans think that they are the honest brokers of the truth? The arbiters of right and wrong. They go on TV – mostly Fox – and speak with superiority, talk loudly and talk over other guests and sometimes the moderator. This ugly behavior starts from the top: Reince Priebus, RNC Chairman. For four years the Republican Party has waged a war against the success of our first black president and the media has let them get away with it. I guess they did not want their access to influential Republicans cut. I don’t know much about Fox News, but, it seems that only Chris Wallace refuses to ‘drink the Republican Kool-Aid.’ He will confront Republicans when they lie, even Ed Gillespie! This is refreshing in a season of GOP political lies, filibusters, gridlock in Congress resulting in historical low poll ratings and public confidence. If we were a parliamentary government, votes of non-confidence would have changed things years ago. One is reminded that though not perfect, the system our Forefathers gave us is the best democracy in the world. If only we could get Republicans to play the game honestly. If only Republicans would stop fighting negotiation as the only way forward for the United States. There is no guarantee that a Republican in the Whitehouse would mean smooth-sailing for legislation that would erase the harm done by the Tea Party, Mitch McConnell, John Boehner and Eric Cantor.
Tonight is the last presidential debate. The subject is foreign policy and it promises to be quite “spicy,” or should I say dicey. The debate score is Romney: “1” and Obama: “1”. The winner of this last debate so close to voting might take the election. Of course, I am rooting for Barack Obama to abandon being so polite and let the people see his true passion and fire. Whatever happens, the American people will not see her president resort to lies, bullying and bad behavior. God bless Barack Obama!
Republicans have whittled down their choices to having to run Mitt Romney for President although they DO NOT like him, approve of or respect as a conservative. Williard Mitt Romney was simply the last man standing. But then, why are 17 rich white men trying to buy the election for Romney? ANSWER: They see Mitt Romney as the clown he is. Romney has no core according to fellow Republican, Rick Santorum, who also said, Mitt Romney is the last man to run against Barack Obama.” These 17 “Big Money Donors” see that Mitt Romney – who has no core – also has no spine. He bends with the wind. Powerful Republicans are pulling him this way and that way. They see that it would be easy to use the might of their “unlimited campaign contributions” to purchase enough negative political ads to pull the wool over the eyes of low-political-knowledge voters and win the election (so they think) for our first CLOWN PRESIDENT, the first US President who would be completely under the control of 17 wealthy white men who have their own agenda… which does not favor the best interests of the middle-class or the poor. Romney is now pitching to the middle-class and the poor like he just found religion. We, too, recognize a clown when we see one!
Appearing on “Morning Joe” this morning, Romney Campaign Manager, Dan Senor, echoed Ed Gillespie‘s assertican saying, “basically Mitt Romney was gone from Bain Capital” as he fixed the Olympics. Using “basically” means there were time when Mitt Romney was still running Bain Capital as Romney indicated on legal documents he submitted to the Securities and Exchange Commission. [Is this a situation for the US Inspector General to investigate?]
IMHO, David Gregory came ready for his show today, but, allowed Ed Gillespie and Sen. Kyl. When Kyl said “don’t raise taxes on those who create jobs,” Gregory should have asked how effective were the Bush Tax Cuts in getting the so-called “job creators” to create domestic jobs and repatriate American jobs and offshore profits.” All those who are prominent in the media have let the Republicans fundamentally change this country without revealing their ultimate goal. The Fourth Estate has failed the American people. Why is congressional gridlock acceptable? Why are voter suppression laws acceptable? Why is federal government allowing Fox News to be a virtual arm of the Republican party? Are they afraid that they won’t be able to get Republican leaders to appear on show on networks other than Fox? Would their profits take a fatal hit? They are failing to serve us! If we don’t point this out to them, then we fail ourselves!
Yesterday Ed Gillespie, new to the Mitt Romney campaign, went on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” Surely he knows better, but, Gillespie used comments from two GOP leaders to leap to the negative characterization by the American people on whether the President’s mention of the Assassination of Osama bin Laden is inappropriate. It appears that Ed was too anxious to use the Karl Rove tactic of accusing Democrats as being divisive which is a strategy more characteristic of Republicans. Karl Rove teaches his Republican clients to take their weaknesses and try to marry them in the public’s mind with Democats…instead of their proper place.
