New King James Version

PSALM 100:4-5

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.

New King James Version

PSALM 1:1-2

BOOK ONE: Psalms 1—41 ] [ The Way of the Righteous and the End of the Ungodly ] Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night.

. . .

The first three chapters of the book of Revelation present the accurate picture of Jesus Christ today, active in His Church. A picture of great glory and great authority; a picture of ruling in the churches that are on the earth. In chapter 2 and 3 of Revelation we find letters that John wrote directly from Christ to the seven churches in Asia. Those letters were letters of encouragement, letters of promise, letters of correction, and letters of warning. Every letter had a warning that the candlestick, which represented their church before the throne of God, could and indeed would be snuffed out by Christ should they not heed the warning that was brought to them by John.

I have a practical burden for you all individually and that is, “What is your faith really like?” If you look at the preaching of Jesus Christ, it is clearly spoken that there would be two kinds of faith on the earth. There would be a pretend faith. There would be an imitation faith. There would be a kind of faith that was bound up with enthusiasm and excitement when the feel-good aspect of it bringing blessing and purpose would be upon the individual. And then there is another kind of faith which Hebrews call true faith; a faith that passes through the fire and when it is all the way through it still stands. When you look at history and you find a segment of population where actually the whole entire faith of a group of people is totally gone over a period of hundreds and hundreds of years under persecution, you have to ask a question, “Did they really have faith? What did they really have?” It is incredible to me to think that those of us who have tasted the redemption of Jesus Christ, who have known deliverance from the power of sin, that we fall into the trappings of religious expression as a substitute for living the dynamic reality of what our faith is in Jesus Christ and God alone. It is important that we understand that faith, whether we be a small child or whether we be an adult, has the same basic means of operation. Jesus said, “When I come, will I find faith on the earth?” The Bible talks about the time to come in the book of Revelation as a time which would try men’s souls. Jesus said, “Except for the elect’s sake the days would be shortened,” and that even the elect would cave in and give up if it was not for the fact that God Himself intervened and made the burden lighter so that those believers could make it to the end. We need to recognize that Christ is about proving whether we have faith. We have that which we think is faith and all we have is soulish preference and we arrogantly label it “faith” and we unrighteously label it as that which pleases God and it is a lie. And He will prove us and He will find us out. There is a lot of those who say they believe, but, on the truth of the Word of God, what you say means nothing because faith is proven by the manner in which you trust God when there is nothing visible, emotional, or physical, by which we can say, “I’m feeling good, I am on the right path.”

“Georgia school employee hailed as ‘real hero’ for talking gunman into giving up”

By Greg Botelho and Vivian Kuo, CNN

Watch the school employee hailed as a hero in the Georgia school shooting reunite with the 911 operator on “AC360” at 8 ET tonight.

Atlanta (CNN) — A man slips behind someone else into a packed elementary school with an AK-47-type weapon. He goes into the office and shoots at the ground, then darts between there and outside to fire at approaching police.

So what do you do?

If you’re Antoinette Tuff, who works in the front office at Ronald E. McNair Discovery Learning Academy just outside Atlanta, you don’t run. You talk. You divulge your personal struggles to the gunman, you tell him you love him, you even proactively offer to walk outside with him to surrender so police won’t shoot.

And then the nightmare ends — with the suspect, later identified as Michael Brandon Hill, taken into custody and no one inside or outside the Decatur school even hurt, despite the gunfire.

“Let me tell you something, babe,” Tuff tells the dispatcher at the end of the dramatic 911 call, obtained by CNN affiliate WXIA, that recounts her minutes of valor and terror. “I’ve never been so scared in all the days of my life. Oh, Jesus.”

This brief outburst of emotion, moments after police entered the school Tuesday, was in stark contrast to her cool, calm demeanor as heard earlier on that 911 call.

As a go-between, she relayed his demands that police refrain from using their radios and “stop all movement,” or else the suspect would shoot. By the end — with police themselves having never directly talked to him — Tuff and the gunman were talking about where he would put his weapon, how he’d empty his pockets and where he’d lie down before authorities could get him.

“. . .and who owns Jesus”

By Meteor Blades

Every 10 years, millions of Middle Easterners in the U.S. turn to their census forms and check the box under race labeled “white.” This is, after all, their legal classification. The U.S. government formally recognizes anyone from “Europe, the Middle East or North Africa” as white.

This seems counterintuitive, but it’s the product of several contentious court battles that occurred in the early 1900s. The most prominent of these was Dow v. United States, a 1915 case in which Syrian immigrant George Dow fought to overturn two lower court decisions that found him ineligible for naturalization because he wasn’t white. A federal appeals court ruled in Dow’s favor. And he won because of Jesus.

Part of Dow’s successful argument was couched in the logic that if Jesus, a Middle Easterner, was white, it only followed that George Dow, also from the Middle East, was white too. It was notions of Jesus’ whiteness—in a largely white Christian American culture—that ultimately won the case for Dow. White Christians owned Jesus and the right to call him theirs, and they were unable to let him go.

Lord, send us someone to lead us in a March on Washington . . .

Martin Luther King – I Have A Dream

Lord, send us someone to lead us in a march on Washington to take our country back from Washington power brokers who have robbed the people of  “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”  Bless us with a happy and prosperous future, again. Daily, Lord, you see Republicans dismantling the freedoms and rights our ancestors fought and died for. The GOP plots to take over government from coast to coast and take food out of the mouths of the poor, take jobs from the downtrodden, take the right to vote from the black man, take away the right of women to make their own decisions about their bodies and reproductive life, to invalidate the belief that all men and women are equal, etc.  You gave us President Barack Obama who is fighting to protect us and make changes while working on the inside. Lord, we need a charismatic leader, black or white, who can inspire young and old to throw off their belief that “47 per cent”  of Americans don’t matter and begin to believe that if all of us little people pull together as one, we can rock Washington, DC and make the Congress work for the people again and once again adopt negotiation as the touchstone for solving problems creating good and just law. Lord, this war on women and other minorities must stop!  Gays and lesbians are Your children, too. Lord, You saw all the evil and ugliness of the last election.  We need Your divine help, Jesus, to make America, America again.  Your grateful and faithful believers ask for these blessings in Your name.  Amen.  [G.O.W.]

Luke 10:30-37

Jesus replied, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him and departed, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a priest was going down that road, and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion. He went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he set him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him. …
