MEMORIAL DAY 2019

“Nearly all of the nation’s top military leaders unequivocally condemned racism in public messages Wednesday, posing a stark and unusual contrast to President Donald Trump’s remarks that both white supremacists and counterprotesters were equally to blame for the violent clashes in Charlottesville, Va., over the weekend.
The brass did not mention Trump specifically but made clear they would not tolerate racism in the ranks, after it was revealed that some former troops attended and helped organize the deadly white supremacist rally that singled out minorities and Jews.” MORE

Today is Armed Forces Day — a national day to celebrate members of our military for their service to our country.
When President Harry Truman designated this day a holiday in 1951, he requested that his fellow citizens “display the flag of the United States … and by fitting exercises to demonstrate their recognition of the gallantry, sacrifice, and devotion to duty of the men and women of the armed forces.”
