Prison tailor Joyce Mitchell has admitted to putting hacksaw blades into frozen hamburger, according to a law enforcement official.
Mitchell then asked Gene Palmer, a prison guard, to carry the meat into Clinton Correctional Facility and pass it to Richard Matt, one of two convicted killers who cut their way out of the New York prison more than two weeks ago, the source said. Palmer’s attorney says his client was unaware there was something in the meat.
Mitchell for several months routinely vouched for convicts Matt and David Sweat, the source said. She would bring baked goods to guards in exchange for favors for them, the source said.
